What is Water resistance?

In short

How deep a device can go underwater before water gets in, measured in metres.

Water resistance is the depth a device is rated to survive, given in metres, and it covers sweat, rain, showers and swimming. A shallow rating is fine for a wrist device you take off before washing, while a deep one means you can swim with it on. Depth ratings across this group stretch from 1 metres to 100 metres. If you swim regularly, or you shower in your watch, pick the deeper rating, and keep to the brand's own guidance for swimming and diving.
